Exporting and Printing

When your script is ready to share, Premiere.Studio gives you several ways to get it out of the app and into the hands of readers, collaborators, and production teams.

Export formats

You can export your script in four formats:

How to export

What you see in Preview mode is what you get in the PDF. If it looks right on screen, it will look right on paper.

Fountain export

Saves your script as a .fountain file. This is useful if you want to:

Final Draft export

Saves your script as an .fdx file, the format used by Final Draft. This is especially useful when you need to share with collaborators, agents, or production companies that work in Final Draft.

Plain Text export

Creates a simple .txt file laid out with plain indents, without fonts, bold or italics. Useful for quick sharing, pasting into emails, or reading on any device.

Printing

To print your script, press Cmd+P or choose Print from the Export menu. Premiere switches to Preview and opens your browser's print dialog. Printed pages use the same layout as Preview and the PDF:

The paginator takes care of all the details so your printed pages look professional.

The Export menu also lets you choose which scenes to include, or who gets a copy:

The fastest way to share
For most situations, PDF is the right choice. It preserves your formatting exactly and can be opened on any device. Use Fountain or FDX when someone specifically needs an editable file.
